For southbound NJ Turnpike drivers, fill up completely before exiting toward Delaware — the $0.20 per gallon savings adds up over port and distribution center deliveries. For westbound drivers on I-78, fill up in NJ before Pennsylvania if you can reach a fuel stop before the border.

The NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway both require E-ZPass for commercial vehicle tolls. Commercial vehicle access restrictions exist throughout northern New Jersey — local jurisdiction truck route ordinances prevent large trucks from using many county roads and surface streets, requiring careful GPS routing for last-mile deliveries in the suburban areas north of Trenton.

Standard weight limits are 80,000 lbs. NJ weigh stations are located on the Turnpike at multiple locations and on I-80 near the Delaware Water Gap. For IFTA compliance, the complexity of multi-route travel through New Jersey — Turnpike, I-78, US-1, US-9 — means mileage records must be precise.
